Dr. Debbie helped introduce the human wobble or balance board into the canine rehab/fitness world in her 2002 book, “Canine Physical Therapy, Orthopedic Physical Therapy.”
Essential for balance and proprioceptive exercises, the Wobble Board can be used alone or with other equipment—hmmm…sounds like another BLOG topic!
The 35” diameter and strong wooden base accommodates a person who can assist the dog with balance and proprioception and/or move the board, as well as the dog. Exercises may be performed while the dog is sitting, standing or lying down. Since the body is constantly working to correct posture, this activates the core and other large stabilizing muscles of the body. This is an appropriate tool for dogs from a few weeks old to way into their senior years. An older dog may lie down on the wobble board and receive the benefits of the weight shifting exercises, and the board can be controlled for limited, safe movement with a puppy. Sitting on the wobble board while weight shifting or moving its head and/or limbs provides balance challenges to the dog. Standing will further increase the challenge as the dog uses its core muscles to maintain stability and hold its position and topline while weight shifting and performing other movements. Further advancements include dynamic movements such as sit to stand, sit to down, or turning in a complete or half circle.
The PURPLE Toto Fit Wobble Board has an amazing rubber granule agility skin surface — the rubber that’s used in children’s playgrounds — that’s thick and cushioned with GRIP, GRIP, GRIP!
The rocker on the bottom was made by our Italian manufacturer and is a rendition of our Nubby TotoPAWD that is harder so it doesn’t ‘squish.’ The NUBBIES keep it from sliding across the floor, as does the material it is made from.
The size and 25-pound weight make this expensive to ship – but we’ll do it if you want! Check in with us first via firstname.lastname@example.org so we can figure out the cost for you.
